TRURO MOTOR  CLUB INTERNATIONAL SPEAKER  EVENING

Truro and District Motor Club have gained a major scoop in attracting world famous international speaker STUART TURNER to speak on his activities in the world of international rallying.  Stuart Won 1960 RAC Rally with Erik Carlsson in a Saab and was Sports Editor of 'Motoring News' where he started the MN Rally Championship the home of most rally competitors.  He ran the original BMC motor sport operations as team manager when the all conquering Mini Cooper S team with drivers Paddy Hopkirk, Timo Makinen and Rauno Altonan won many international events.  He also ran people such as Pat Moss in the works Austin Healey 3000's and formed an enviable reputation as one of the sports best team managers.

In 1969 Stuart went to rival manufacturer Ford who assembled the all conquering Borham works team of Ford Escorts, with such great drivers as Hannau Mikola, Ari Vatanen,  Bjorn Waldiguard and Russell Brooks, plus of course the Late great Roger Clark.  The works Ford Escorts of the late 60's and mid 70's totally dominated the world rallies and were virtually unbeatable, winning the Lombard RAC Rally eight years in a row, a feat that will probably never be equalled by any other factory team. He went onto to become involved in the development of such great iconic cars as the Sierra Cosworth and Group B  RS200 rally cars and is still involved today at the MSA  motorsport headquarters at the sharp end promoting British motor sport of British Motorsport in promoting . Stuart is the author of some 20 books on business and motor sport, he went onto become Chief Executive of the Motorsport Safety Fund, a charity producing films and  publications to help keep motor sport safe.  He was presented with the Benedict After dinners Speaker of the Year Award and the Prince Michael Award for Merit in 2009 for services to motorsport.  Stuart continues to be involved, and currently is involved in promoting motorsport to the younger generation.

Truro and District Motor Club have secured the showroom premises of TREGONINGFORD at Wadebridge for the Friday evening of MAY 21st where a very privileged audience will be able to enjoy a very special evening with STUART TURNER.

Ticket numbers will be limited, with admission only by pre-bought tickets at the very modest cost of five pounds a head, which will include refreshments.
